Controlling emotional eating and quickly lose weight. Controlling emotional consumption and
comfort eating is essential if you intend to lose pounds. Emotional eating can fatally thwart
any weight loss attempt and make losing flab much harder than it needs to be.
The earliest step in controlling emotional eating is to identify your emotional triggers and
how they are associated with food for it. Everyone has a distinctive trigger or collection of
triggers and the finest way to identify them is by keeping a food journal with a note of
everything you eat and how you were feeling at the time. This journal will allow you to realize
that your emotional eating has a pattern to it and will enable you to come up with strategies
and alternative activities to eating the next time your triggers occur.
The next step to take if you require to know can I put an end to my emotional and binge eating
is to limit the amount of trigger foods that you keep in the household. Simply clearing out
your cupboards and fridge of your favourite foods makes it much harder to give in to the
temptation of emotional eating and unhealthy snacking and will bring to a halt you thinking why
can't I stop snacking and get slim.
One question I am often asked can stress cause overeating and weight gain? And is emotional
eating linked to being overweight? Stress can be a massive cause in weight gain as when the
body is stressed it releases a hormone called cortisol which has been strongly linked to
abdominal weight gain and can make losing weight much harder.
It is crucial not to skip meals and to eat frequently through the daytime. Skipping meals
almost certainly leads to overeating. Try having 5-6 lesser meals spread out through the
daytime instead of three huge ones as this helps to keep blood sugar levels constant and you
will be less likely to feel hungry.
Creating alternatives to consuming can help to control comfort eating. Having a long hot bath
or reading a decent paperback can all help to take your mind off food and make emotional eating
easier to resist. Many people wonder why can't I stop eating when I'm bored? Mindless eating in
front of the Box is one of the reasons that lots of people find it problematical to lose flab.
It is easy to sit watching your favourite programs and fill up on crisps, biscuits or other
unhealthy refreshments.
The final issue to remember is to keep a upbeat attitude and outlook. If you are attempting to
overcome emotional eating and you slip up don't beat yourself up about it simply begin again
the next day. Learn from your mistakes and focus on the upbeat things that you have
accomplished. Losing weight can be a challenging process and group support for weight loss
motivation can be a large help for lots of people and can help to dispel what are common weight
loss myths.
